TARIFF AUTHORITY FOR MAJOR PORTS

NOTIFICATION

No.TAMP/9/200-Genl.             -             In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 50 of the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 (38 of 1963), the Tariff Authority for Major Ports hereby amends the Scale of Rates of the Chennai Port Trust (CHPT), as in the Order appended hereto.

                        This Authority had passed an Order on 4 February 2000 for prescribing the port dues chargeable under Section 50 A and Section 50 B of the Major Port Trust Act, 1963.  This Order was notified in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary (Part III Section 4) on 6.3.2000 vide Gazette number 24.

2.                      The Chennai Port Trust (CHPT) has confirmed implementation of this Authoritys Order dated 4 February 2000 on expiry of 30 days from its date of notification i.e. 6 March 2000.  It has now requested for an amendment to its Scale of Rates to include the above decision of the Authority prescribing port dues under Section 50 A and 50B of the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963.

3.                      The Appendix – I of Book – III in the Scale of Rates of the CHPT is, therefore, amended as given below :

(i).          The existing Clause 3 and 4 under Appendix-I – Port Dues are deleted and substituted by the following:

3. A vessel entering any port in ballast and not carrying passengers shall be charged with only 75% of the Port Dues with which she would otherwise be chargeable.”

4.(i). A vessel entering a Port but not discharging or taking in any cargo or passenger therein shall be charged with only 50% of the Port Dues with which she would otherwise be chargeable.”

(ii).         A new Clause 4 (ii) is incorporated below Clause 4 (i) as given below: 

4.(ii). A LASH vessel making a second call to pick up empty LASH barges shall be treated as a vessel entering a Port but not discharging or taking any cargo or passengers therein, as described in Section 50 B of the Major Port Trusts Act, and shall not be charged any Port Dues.”
