(Passed on this 11th day of January 2002)
This Authority had passed an Order on 9 August 2001 revising rates of
levy applicable to the services of the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT)
Registered Cargo Handling Workers Wing. The
NMPT was then advised to formulate within 6 months its proposal for switching
over to a commodity-wise per-tone rate with productivity linkage for deployment
of Registered Cargo Handling Workers. The
validity of the revised rates was, therefore, fixed upto 31 January 2002 only.
2.
The NMPT has now intimated that the exercise to formulate the proposal
for a commodity-wise per-tone rate with productivity linkage for deployment of
Registered Cargo Handling Workers has already been started and the proposal will
be sent separately. The NMPT has
therefore, requested to extend the validity of the existing rates levy upto 31
March 2002.
3.
Recognising the fact that the NMPT has initiated action to formulate the
proposal as directed, this Authority is inclined to accede to the request of the
NMPT. Accordingly, the validity of
the existing rates of levy applicable to the services of the NMPT Registered
Cargo Handling Workers Wing is hereby extended upto 31 March 2002.
