Notification
In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 48 of the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 (38 of 1963), the Tariff Authority for Major Ports hereby approves the request of the New Mangalore Port Trust to withdraw its proposal for a commodity-wise per-tonne rates with productivity linkage for deployment of RCH Wing Workers as in the Order appended hereto.

The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has submitted on 13 March 2002 a
proposal for commodity-wise per-tonne rates with productivity linkage for
deployment of its Registered Cargo Handling Workers (RCHW).

This proposal of the New Mangalore Port Trust was registered as a tariff
case and the usual consultation process was initiated.
3.
The NMPT has now informed that it wishes to withdraw the proposal since
it wants to review the matter and formulate a suitable alternative proposal.

This Authority is inclined to accept the request of the NMPT.
The present case is, therefore, closed as withdrawn.
The revised proposal to be received from the NMPT will be processed
afresh.

It is noteworthy that this Authority vide its Order dated 21 March 2002
had already approved continuance of the existing rates of the levy applicable to
the services of the RCHW till disposal of the proposal received for revision of
these rates. In view of the
revised proposal to be submitted by the NMPT, the validity of existing
rates is extended till disposal of the revised proposal (to be received) in this
regard.

The NMPT is advised to file its revised proposal by 30 June 2002 latest.
